MBA students and staff walk the talk in the Philippines

INSEAD students and staff set up new solar panels at the Assumption Development Foundation bringing renewable energy to the Foundation’s community school in Sapang Palay, in the Bulacan province of the Philippines. The Foundation provides education to those who otherwise would not be able to access it, helping to break the cycle of poverty in one of Philippines’ poorest communities. With the installation of the solar panels, the community school will be able to save energy costs and invest more in educational opportunities for the children.

The INSEAD MBA students were in Manila as part of their Energy Club trek to understand and explore the energy industry in the Philippines. Stanley Sun, Vice President of the INSEAD’s student-led Energy Club appreciated this opportunity: “This project has allowed me to combine two of my passions – to give back and deliver renewable energy to communities across Asia. I am delighted that we have been given the opportunity to fulfil our goal.” 

Led by Fergus Kennedy, Assistant Director at INSEAD’s Career Development Centre, the project was a joint effort between the INSEAD Career Development Centre, the INSEAD Energy Club, JJ-Lapp Cable and the Zenises Foundation. Katy Montgomery, Associate Dean of Degree Programmes was present in Sapang Palay for the installation.
